Item 6425 WW2 German officer's leather overcoat.

This is a great example of a Wehrmacht officer's leather overcoat. Often referred to as Luftwaffe style, this pattern was worn by Army officer's as well. Note the turn-back cuffs and the adjustable rear mounted belt. These are features that MUST be found in regulation officer coats. (Those seen all over ebay which have straight cuffs and wrap-around waist belts are civilian pattern coats) The leather is in super condition, fully pliable and sound. No repairs, no dry spots. The lining is fully intact with all stitching sound. The buttons are the false braid leather covered type which was always an option afforded the officer when he was purchasing a leather coat. The buttons are removable and have leather re-enforcements at the inside which are themselves removable so as to change the buttons or remove them during cleaning. This coat is about a 40 chest size. Looks wonderful on a mannequin. Honestly speaking, it's the finest condition leather Overcoat I have seen in years. SOLD

Item 6405 WW2 German Oberst uniform ID'd to Hanged war criminal

This is the uniform of a German Colonel by the name of H Winkler. The handwritten name appears in the tailor tag. I have known about this uniform since the mid 1980s when it was in the collection of a (now deceased) man in the Detroit area. He had gotten the uniform in the 1970s from the family of the officer in Germany. He knew none of the specifics of this officer but had known from the family that this Colonel later became a General and did not survive the war. After I came to own this uniform some years back, I did the research and found that H. Winkler is actually Herman Winkler as that is the only "H" Winkler who became a general officer.

General-Major Herman Winkler was the military governor of the Nikolaev region; eastern Ukraine 1942/43. After the war he was arraigned by the soviet authorities along with 3 other officers and tried at the Soviet military tribunal in Nikolaev from January 11 to January 17, 1946. All three were found guilty of war crimes in Nikolaev (soviet military tribunals rarely do anything BUT find the accused to be guilty) and hanged the same day; January 17, 1946.

This uniform is dated 1939 which was when Winkler was still a Colonel. The material is very high quality doe-skin with no damage. All insignia is guaranteed to be original to the uniform The aguillettes and hamburg cross were on the uniform during all the time that I knew of it. May be original to the uniform; I do not know. The visor hat has also always been with the uniform and to the best of my knowledge is Winkler's hat. Condition is per the photos. I have tried to show everything. SOLD
